Remember just being a carefree kid at camp? Fishing, swimming, dancing, playing, climbing and horseback riding…all day long! Children facing medical challenges may not be able to participate in these fun experiences, but at The Center for Courageous Kids they can, at no charge to the children or their families! We have nine separate week-long summer camps where we can serve up to 128 kids per week. Each week is designated to a different illness. Family Retreat Weekends - Ages 5 to 17 summer camp girls in canoe Families face a tremendous challenge in coping with a child’s devastating illness. At The Center for Courageous Kids, Family Retreat Weekends are designed to provide respite, recreation and support programs for families who have a child with a chronic or life-threatening illness. Family weekends provide similar experiences as summer camp, as well as the opportunity for parents to gather together and share similar life experiences. To qualify, a member of the immediate family, ages 5-17, must be diagnosed with one of the illnesses we serve.
